Marking a special milestone release, HIFI/LOFI Records celebrates its 20th outing with Lost Tapes Vol. 1, a carefully curated various artists compilation bringing together a truly global cast of talent. From Colombia to France, Germany, Mexico, Ukraine, and the United Kingdom, the release reflects the label’s ethos: quality over quantity, with every track bringing something distinct to the table.

Among the highlights of the compilation is ‘Mon Petit Ami Le Martien’, a playful and infectious collaboration between YAME, Franz Matthews, and Bonnie Spacey.

Landing somewhere between cosmic disco and indie dance, the track feels like a joyful transmission from another planet. Built on groovy rhythms and quirky melodic elements, ‘Mon Petit Ami Le Martien’ stands out with its unmistakable character, driven further by Bonnie Spacey’s signature vocal, which adds both charm and a slightly surreal narrative to the journey.

There’s a lightness to the production that makes it instantly engaging, yet beneath the playful surface lies a tight, well-crafted arrangement designed for the dancefloor. It’s the kind of track that doesn’t take itself too seriously, but still delivers with precision, a balance that perfectly aligns with the HIFI/LOFI identity.

As part of Lost Tapes Vol. 1, the record sits within a broader sonic universe that explores everything from cosmic chuggers to hypnotic club cuts, reinforcing the label’s commitment to curating music that feels both cohesive and adventurous.

With this release, HIFI/LOFI not only celebrates a milestone but also sets the tone for what’s to come, a forward-thinking vision rooted in creativity, collaboration, and a deep love for underground music.

You can now listen to the full premiere of ‘Mon Petit Ami Le Martien’ exclusively on When We Dip Magazine. Enjoy!
