Razor-N-Tape (RNT) co-founder JKriv and keyboard virtuoso Jason Lindner join forces to deliver the dynamic ‘Real Ones’ EP. This clubby, synth-driven 3-track excursion, complete with a deep and polished remix from rising star Retromigration, marks the latest offering from Razor-N-Tape. The EP captures the intricate musical interplay and incendiary energy the duo has been honing through years of collaboration in the A Joyful Noise band and hybrid-live sets at Razor-N-Tape events.
JKriv is a driving force behind RNT, recognized as a highly respected producer, prolific remixer, and incendiary DJ. His two-decade career saw him transition from a trained jazz musician and live performer to a studio craftsman, resulting in scores of releases on labels like Razor-N-Tape, Glitterbox, and Z Records. A co-founder of RNT, JKriv has had a significant impact on the global dance music scenes, with his music earning support from influential tastemakers including Gilles Peterson, Louie Vega, and Antal.
Jason Lindner (aka flymyspcshp) is a contemporary keyboardist, electronic musician, and composer from Brooklyn known for his original approach and sonic detail. His storied musical history ranges from leading the in-house big band at NYC’s Small’s jazz club to performing on David Bowie’s final Grammy-winning album, Blackstar.
Across the three core house tracks, lush layers of synths interlock, building toward big, anthemic moments, all driven forward by hard-hitting drums. Retromigration steps up to deliver a gorgeously slick remix of ‘Regionale,’ completing this exceedingly musical and eminently playable 12″.
“Jason and I began working together around 5 years ago as part of my A Joyful Noise live band, but I had known and respected his work long before that. We have also been developing a DJ/live hybrid project recently, so these tracks came about organically, spontaneously and very quickly. The 3 songs of the Real Ones EP began as production sketches of mine, with Jason adding long takes of improvised synth work which I subsequently consolidated, edited, and built into the arrangements you hear.” – JKriv
