Mike Rish returns to his own tornn imprint with ‘The Likes Of You’, a two track EP that finds the Melbourne producer exploring the more tender end of his sound. Known for his deep, hypnotic and groove driven productions, Rish steps away from the chunky grooves and rolling percussion here and instead lets melody lead the way.

The title track is a study in nostalgia. A sentimental melody tugs gently at the heart strings, wrapping the listener in warm, sun soaked vibes that feel tailor made for long summer evenings. It is a reminder that Rish, a skilled mix and mastering engineer as well as a producer, knows exactly how to move between the many moods of progressive house with grace and restraint.

The EP is completed by ‘Wait For Me’, which carries much of the same emotional weight. Suspended chords build a slow crescendo before cascading into a groove that is unmistakably Mike Rish. Bent melodies and delicate pads create a playfully moody atmosphere, setting the tone for the contrasting chords that follow.

Launched by Rish himself, Tornn is still a young imprint, but it has already made a serious impression on the progressive scene. The label has drawn continued support from heavyweights such as Hernan Cattaneo, Jamie Stevens, Ezequiel Arias, Khen, Eli Nissan, Simply City, GMJ & Matter, Kasey Taylor and Zankee Gulati, a testament to the quality and vision behind the project. Built to give Rish full creative control over every release, Tornn continues to carve out its own sonic identity, and ‘The Likes Of You’ is a beautiful next chapter.
