New York stalwart Groovecreator returns to When We Dip with something special: an exclusive listen of his full two hour live set, filmed in crisp 4K at his recent headline appearance at Unveiled in Williamsburg, Brooklyn on July 11th.
Captured in front of a packed room, the performance is a snapshot of everything that has made Groovecreator such a respected figure in the New York underground. Across 120 minutes he moves effortlessly between jackin house, Chicago flavored grooves and driving techno, reading the floor with the instinct of someone who has spent a lifetime behind the decks. The 4K footage puts you right in the booth, and the energy of the Williamsburg crowd is impossible to miss.
That lifetime is no exaggeration. Groovecreator started collecting vinyl and DJing back in 1986, and over three decades he has shared booths with icons like Carl Cox and Roy Davis Jr while building an impressive catalogue of releases on imprints such as Musical Directions, INFX Recordings, 23rd Century DGTL and Griffintown Records. Earlier this year his ‘Warehouse Dub’ remix of Robert Owens and Rober V’s ‘Everything’ climbed to the top of the Traxsource Techno chart, and his X Sessions event series, launched with a headline B2B alongside Robert Owens himself, has quickly become one of the city’s most exciting intimate party concepts.
This live recording from Unveiled is the perfect way to experience what a Groovecreator headline night feels like. Press play, turn it up and let one of New York’s finest take you on a journey.
