Brooklyn indie dance imprint Beats On Time welcomes two Miami favourites as Dude Skywalker and Freak The Disco join forces on ‘Give It To Me Deeper’, a two-track EP bursting with cosmic funk, off-kilter house grooves and a healthy dose of personality.

Our premiere, ‘Choose Your Own Adventure’, opens the release in style. Built on an eclectic indie dance groove, the track pairs spacey, shimmering textures with a lively rhythmic drive that keeps the energy rolling from start to finish. Playful synth lines drift in and out of the mix, pulling the listener along a winding path that lives up to its title. On the flip, the title track ‘Give It To Me Deeper’ settles into a quirky, rolling groove, with Freak The Disco’s vocals adding an extra layer of character.

Dude Skywalker has built his reputation on a sound he calls Space Age Hippie Rave, a collision of space funk, disco, hip-hop, soul and jazz fused with deep house and gritty techno. As the story goes, he time-travelled from the distant future to save dance music with the cosmic sounds of the coming space age, and his colourful, genre-hopping productions make a strong case for it.

Freak The Disco is the project of Torin Lawson, a Miami based DJ, producer and curator of Still Play Records. With more than 17 years in the studio and performances at Space Ibiza, Burning Man and venues across the Americas and Europe, he brings euphoric, funky grooves and a love of experimentation that fits perfectly alongside Dude Skywalker’s galactic vision.

Together, the pair land on Beats On Time, the Brooklyn label known for its steady stream of releases, podcasts, free downloads and events, making ‘Give It To Me Deeper’ a weird and wonderful meeting point of two distinct sounds.
