Hot Since 82’s record label Knee Deep In Sound yet again continue to impress as they release another exciting new EP from fresh new talent by the name of Athea, his debut EP ‘Mind Game’ released on the Knee Deep In Sound imprint is a four track heavy hitter, with remixes from Mario Aureo and DJ Le Roi.
From his Facebook bio, Athea writes, ‘Athea may be a new beginning for James Dutton, but his dance music roots run deep. Half man, half motherboard since he learned to weave a wire as a bairn, Athea speaks the language of technology and bends it to his musical whim’. Athea is set to bring some fresh and exciting new music to dancefloors all across the world with his new EP.
Opening the release is two original tracks from Athea, the first and also the title track ‘Mind Game’ sees Athea crafting some deep and dark house vibes which are full of emotion and an impressive bass line. ‘In The Beginning’ is both groovy and mesmerizing, a track that takes full control from the off. It has everything you want from a house track with tension building drums, synths and that all important bass.
Producer DJ Le Roi’s remix of ‘In The Beginning’ takes a slightly different approach on the original track with an ever flowing melodic rhythm that brings in some striking and effective drums. Mario Aureo ends the EP with some finesse with his rework of ‘Mind Game’, as he transcends the track into an incisive and dream like state, leaving the listener excited and content.
