Ahead of his debut on UK imprint Underground Audio, When We Dip speaks to anItalian talent clearly on the rise. Davide T follows up recent outings on New Violence Records and Elrow with a stellar new EP titled Homework, which sees the young artist joined by Desolat maestro Bimas on remix duties. We got the lowdown on the release and much more in the latest of our ‘In Conversation’ series.

WWD: Cheers for joining us Davide! Can you give us a little known fact about your hometown Rosate in Italy?

Hello! My pleasure to join with you in this interview! So.. Rosate is where i was born and where i live now, It’s a small town near Milan and of course is the town where all my music comes from.

WWD: Tell us about your new Underground Audio release! What influenced the title?

The title was influenced by my ”daily” program of making music (4pm to 8pm) : Like students making their homework.

WWD: How did you come into contact with the label?

I follow UA music since 2013 and I really appreciate releases over these years so, when I had tracks ready for them, I decided to send to Kal my demos, and finally … I had signed the EP around May of this year.

WWD: It has an impressive back catalogue, when’s been your favourite UA record to date?

For sure was Simone Liberali’s ”Huracan EP”.
Super bomb from my friend Simone that had ruled all the dance floors during this year

WWD: It’s been a big few months for you with a track also on Elrow. What’s been your highlight of 2016 so far?

Signing on Elrow was really an unexpected thing, I was really happy to release on a big label like this, but my highlight of 2016 was when I heard my track called ”Ambra” played on Music On Radio Show live from Miami by Nicole Moudaber, I still can believe it. When I found the video of her playing my track I was really happy to see my track in the best party in the world!

WWD: In your eyes, who are the guys fuelling the Italian scene right now?

It’s a difficult choice, because i think there’s a lot of Italian Dj/producer that are doing great things, one of them is Stefano Noferini that is doing serious damage with his music all over the world: one of my favourite producer overall!

WWD: 3 local producers we should keep an eye on?

-Stefano Kosa is the first for me! Stefano is a great friend of mine, we live in the same town (Rosate) and he taught me how to produce music, he’s my master, and with his music this year is doing really good releases with strong support all over the world.
-For sure, my friend Simone Liberali, he’s unstoppable, he’s doing really strong releases this year also and his music is supported by the main artists of the scene. We are both residents in a party in Pavia (his hometown) called Closer, we are doing good parties with international guestd… and he’s a great guy, an example to follow, a focused guy!
-The last but not the least, is Francesco Squillante: a good producer from the south of Italy, he’s killing dance floors with his dark and bouncy style! He will do serious damage in the scene, i’m sure!

WWD: One record that defined 2016 for you?

One of the best track of the 2016 is definitely ”Dancing” of Eats Everything, a masterpiece of every gigs of mine

WWD: Have you got any other exciting projects on the horizon?

Now, I’m focused on my music, I’m trying to do something good in studio and I hope to sign on big labels next year! It can be difficult but … I know I can do it with determination!
Also, I hope to continue to do great parties with my residency party ”Closer”: always ready to make some noise in the city!

WWD: What would make 2017 a good year for Davide T?

I don’t know exactly, but i think it would be great if my music would be appreciated more by the big artists of the scene, and for sure I hope to release my future productions on big labels and to travel around the world to make ”hear my music louder”!

Thanks for the interview, it’s a big pleasure.

Davide T’s ‘Homework’ EP is set for release on November 11th, 2016.
