21 September 2017

Catching up with Canadian native Jeremy Stott ahead of an appearance alongside Berghain legend Len Faki and fellow Canadian artist Greg Gow at Raw Toronto’s undisclosed warehouse party this Saturday (September 23rd), we touched on what was an exciting Summer for the rising talent, we caught his thoughts on the development of the local scene and we found just what he has in store for the close of 2017.

Thanks for taking the time to chat Jeremy! What’s been on your to-do list this week?

Thank you for having me on When We Dip. This week i have been getting demo’s ready and starting out on some new projects…not to mention, getting some rest.

You threw down at the Block Party London (Ontario) last week, what was that like?

The London Block Party was amazing…above expectations. It was a privilege to meet Christian Smith, owner of one of my favourite labels, Tronic. Both festival and after party were packed. Looking forward to coming back.

Summer has come to a close now, it looked like an incredibly hectic period for you. Can you share with us some of your highlights?

This was easily one of the best summer I’ve had. The Still Dreamin’ party at Coda this year was mental. Both years I’ve played, they’ve been slammed. It was surreal playing Electric Island and the after party, i have gone to the festival for so many years, it was a privilege to play in it. Last but not least, the FLOH 6 year anniversary with Victor Ruiz lived up to all the hype. Opening and closing for Victor was an honour.

From your perspective, how has the electronic music scene in Toronto developed over the last two years?

Toronto’s scene is thriving. I always find it amazing how much of a steady growing industry its become. Year in and out, more and more people come to these events. We are very privileged in Toronto to have great venues, promotion teams, club owners and other artists who care about this industry always doing better. Music wise, i think techno has never been stronger.

Who are the local talents exciting you right now?

Local talents I’ve had my eye on would be Rustam Kashapov (Rustek) we have been friends for a while and starting collaborating on tracks in the last year. We both have very similar interests in techno. Brenden Dowden (Dowden) is a great progressive and techno artist, Al G has been making some quality house records, look out for him in the future. Not local, but Sama from Amsterdam, has made possibly one of my favourite EP’s of the year on Kraftek. Dave Sinner from Barcelona is on fire with huge releases lately and a remix coming soon for Rustek and I. Montreal’s Highestpoint is doing great things lately as well.

September 23rd, sees you join Greg Gow and Len Faki for a TBA session with Raw Toronto. What are you most looking forward to with regard to the party?

September 23 will be a great night. The warehouse vibe and sound will be on point. Floh Entertainment puts a ton of effort into their events…not to mention the return of Len Faki, he is a true legend, this will be one to remember.

Music-wise, what have you got in the pipeline for the coming months?

Upcoming releases this fall will be 2 collaborations with Rustek on Funk’n Deep Records, remixes from Dave Sinner and Highestpoint. A remix for Funk’n Deep. A 4 track EP coming on Natura Viva and a 2 track EP for Hi-Tek Records…a few more in the pipeline which i can’t discuss yet.

What would make a good end to 2017 for Jeremy Stott?

This year has already been incredible, i couldn’t ask for any more. Huge thank you to my management at Floh Agency!
