Do you remember Connaisseur Records’ 50th catalogue number ‘CNS050’, a high quality extra vergine olive oil from Croatia, which they released in Autumn 2012? Already at this time they were sure, when they will reach the magical CNS100, they will full-fill themselves one of their biggest dreams: A Connaisseur wine. It’s now a dream completed.
Label founder Alex Flitsch told us some great insight about the 100th release :
Thinking about potential partners there was one crucial point, the partner should love Connaisseur as much we love good wine. It took some time, but coincidence was on our side. From two completely different and non-connected sides we got introduced to Eleonora Gottardi from the excellent winery Contra Soarda in Bassano del Grappa and became friends. Next to the family business she is a world-travelling wine agent for her own company Dynamica Wine and she is a long-term Connaisseur fan. Bingo!
CNS100 is directly connected to ‘When We Sip’, a Spotify playlist we are constantly building up. The playlist features a diverse range of mostly electronic music, perfectly made for being an acoustic companion for vinous hours. With weekly „refills“ we keep the playlist lively and have on top every 14 days „refills” by external curator from the wine and music business. Via a scannable Spotify code on the back label of CNS100, you have instant access to When We Sip, straight from the bottle to your ears.
CNS100 grew on the terroir of Contra Soarda. An organically produced red wine cuvée of Marzemino, Pinot Noir and Merlot. The soil of this vineyard is volcanic, rich in minerals, salts and permeable, allowing the vine roots to go deep underground and find balanced moisture exchange. The harvesting and selection of the grapes is all done by hand. After the vinification process, the refining happens in barriques for the Merlot; tonneaux for the Pinot Noir and Marzemino Nero in both barriques and tonneaux of second passage for 48 months.
The result of this sophisticated process is rich of textures and alluring like a track by Apparat. The bouquet is a powerhouse mix of cherry, plum and blackberry. On the palete it hits like a Daft Punk bassline from 1997, ejaculating coco, vanilla and a touch of smoke all over your tongue. Bouncing, well balanced, velvet but fully masculine at the same time. CNS100 is a compressed charm bomb with a flavourful echo. Peaktime for your taste buds.

CNS100 is limited to 100 bottles, can age up to 10 years or more and will be available in late summer 2019.
