First lady of electronic underground, Maya Jane Coles returns to her own I/AM/ME imprint with the dark, stripped-back roller ‘Freefall’ featuring alluring R&B singer-songwriter Moxie Knox. The single releases with accompanying remixes by ZeroFG & Ruff Style.

Building on her sonic signature, ‘Freefall’’s central focus is the beautiful and haunting vocal work from Moxie. Held up by a growling, fuzzy bassline and delicate drum work, ‘Freefall’ stands at the precipice of functional club and easy-listening headphone music. The single gets a UK Garage rework by mysterious producer ZeroFG who also flips the script with a second remix under his alias Ruff Style. Undoubtedly one of the brightest and passionate talents to emerge in the last decade in electronic music, ‘Freefall’ follows Maya’s April 2022 Voicebox EP under her techno alias CAYAM.

Maya reflects on how the song came about, “Moxie’s vocals were a dream to work with, definitely one of my favourite tracks I’ve worked on this year! ZeroFG didn’t disappoint with the remixes, especially the one under his Ruff Style alias which is my personal favourite!”

Moxie adds, “I’m so excited about this collaboration with Maya! I wrote ‘Freefall,’ acappella as an ode to songwriting itself. Maya crafted the track around it and I’ve been dancing to its dreamy vibes ever since.”

Winner of numerous awards, British-Japanese Maya Jane Coles has proven herself internationally as an artist, producer, songwriter, and DJ of note. Somewhat of an enigma; on a typical Maya Jane Coles record, Maya will have written, produced, engineered, arranged, mixed, and performed every element of the track; sometimes top-lining and, on many occasions, even designing the sleeve artwork too. Maya is no overnight success, but rather someone who has been paying their dues and honing their craft for years. Having played in over 40 countries, critical and fan support have closely followed Maya’s career with her picking up multiple awards including Beatport’s ‘Staff Pick: Artist of the year’ and ‘Best Producer’, ‘Best DJ’, ‘Best Compilation’ or ‘Best Underground Track’ from Mixmag and DJ Mag – most recently debuting on the latter coveted Top 100 DJs.

Moxie’s richly textured sound and depth of her tone make her vocals a magnet for the ear. A native New Yorker, currently L.A.-based, Moxie has been infiltrating the music world with swift success. With over 10 million streams, her self-love anthem, ‘Love Me Right’, will captivate you and immediately draw you into a world of melodic bliss. Her lyrics inspire us to speak freely about who we are and tell us not to be afraid to ask for what we want. Moxie’s performances and videos are mesmerizing, and you will be seduced into a world of sound and visuals that will encompass your senses.

Lights-out, brooding business, ‘Freefall’, and the accompanying remixes are made for the dancefloor. Pre-Save HERE
