They aimed to capture this dichotomy in their tune ‘Mystery Of The Sun’, with shimmering melodies that reflect the Sun’s dazzling light and intricate rhythms that mirror the subtle, mysterious forces at play in the universe. With its lush melodies and intricate layers, the tune evokes a sense of wonder and curiosity, encouraging us to ponder the endless mysteries of the universe while basking in the warmth of the Sun’s eternal glow. The track will be released on Guy Laliberté’s label Frooogs Records alongside two remixes from Matur and Wild Dark.

WWD: Hello Nhii, Welcome to When We Dip! What first got you into music?
Thanks guys! I started DJing at 16, with vinyls and more focused on funk / urban music. Which changed quite quickly after being exposed to electronic music at 18. I hadn’t started producing music back then, but after my Audio Engineering study at SAE Institute, I started my journey as a producer at 22 years old.
WWD: What is your vision/inspiration behind your EP with Shyam P ‘Mystery of the Sun’?
‘Mystery of the Sun’ is a musical creation born from our shared fascination with the enigmatic and ever-inspiring celestial body, the Sun. We found ourselves drawn to the Sun’s profound influence on our world, both scientifically and metaphorically.
Intrigued by the duality of the Sun’s nature—its radiant brilliance and its hidden mysteries. We aimed to capture this dichotomy in our tune, with shimmering melodies that reflect the Sun’s dazzling light and intricate rhythms that mirror the subtle, mysterious forces at play in the universe.
The inspiration for ‘Mystery of the Sun’ emerged during a serene evening when we were watching the sunset during ADE 2022. As we witnessed the Sun’s descent below the horizon, we contemplated its role in shaping life on Earth and the countless secrets it still holds. This contemplative moment ignited our creative spark, and we set out to craft a musical journey that would allow listeners to explore the profound beauty and intrigue of our closest cosmic neighbor.
WWD: What is the core part of your production process?
For me, it is always the groove. Everything starts with Drums and the bassline, if the groove hits me, I will move on to the different parts of the track.
WWD: Favorite machine/gear in your studio and why?
It’s my modular rack. What I love about modular systems, is that you can basically build your own synthesizer from scratch!
WWD: Who is your biggest inspiration?
It is usually my surroundings. I am a walker, so thinking and experiencing my environment inspires me.
