Dutch powerhouse Thomas Newson has steadily etched his name within the modern electronic music scene as an in-demand DJ with dynamic live shows and regular appearances at key festivals such as Tomorrowland, Ultra, and Creamfields, and a red-hot producer with an extensive catalogue on labels from Toolroom to Moxy Muzik. Following up an epic debut on South Of Saturn in 2023, Thomas Newson now turns in three club-ready cuts on Lee Foss’ flagship label Repopulate Mars, including a collaboration with Sydney-based singer-songwriter KLP.

I wanted to reimagine a classic, so I flipped Jennifer Lopez’s ‘Play’ into a stripped-back groover with melodic elements. ‘Dreaming’ came from late-night studio sessions, chasing that raw, bass-heavy feel with rap vocals that hit hard. And ‘Bumpin’ —that one’s just pure vibe, built around the iconic M1 organ sound that always gets me moving. Breathing new life into a pop anthem, ‘Play’ sees Newson work tightly programmed drums and turbocharged bass amongst KLP’s smooth R&B vocal hook to bring a touch of nostalgia that will set the club alight. ‘Dreaming’ heads for stripped-back territories topped with well-treated rapped vocals before closer ‘Bumpin’ flips the vibe and marries 90s New York House with contemporary tech production.
