Beltran brings looping, late-night vibes to ‘Commisatio,’ as part of Frooogs Records Cirque du Soleil remix project

There’s a calliope at the Commisatio, but Beltran has shown Caligula the door. If Violaine Corradi’s original composition for Zaia was a maximalist soundscape fit for an emperor’s banquet at the Macao Venetian, Beltran’s remix is for the afterparty.

The Brazilian groove technician has traded away ethnic percussion, strings, and woodwinds for an intimate reunion between play and ritual. Gone are the marble columns and mirrored ceilings. Beltran reimagines Corradi’s ‘Commisatio’ for a smaller room, lit low, where every guest came to dance. Fewer bodies. Fuller sound. And just enough space for the calliope to drift, breathe, and hiss like it was originally intended to. It’s indulgent, yes, but quieter now. The original’s theatrical layers fall away, revealing a hypnotic loop that will keep loyal two-steppers suspended somewhere between memory and motion, long after the curtains come down.

As part of Frooogs Records’ ongoing reimagining of Cirque du Soleil’s iconic musical catalogue, Beltran steps into the ring with a remix of ‘Commisatio’ from Zaia—originally composed by Violaine Corradi. The project invites electronic artists to reinterpret the theatrical in club terms, drawing new life from legacy.
