Michael Reinboth, the visionary founder of Compost Records, makes a striking return with his second release under his own name. Known for decades of curatorial brilliance, genre-defining compilations, and timeless productions, Reinboth now takes center stage with ‘Morbus Mütze’ —an inspired two-track journey that pairs conceptual depth with sonic sophistication.

‘Neurodiversity’ channels the luminous spirit of the 1980s, weaving Fairlight-inspired textures and shimmering synths into a sleek yet powerful sonic journey. Meanwhile, ‘Morbus Mütze’ arrives in two distinct versions: the hypnotic Incurable Mix, driven by soaring analog embellishments and arpeggiated leads, and the emotive Curable Piano Version, which introduces a warm melodic touch and subtle harmonic layers that expand its narrative depth.

Conceptually, the release carries rich symbolism. ‘Morbus Mütze’ takes its name from a secret term once used by doctors to describe hypochondria—patients plagued by imagined ailments. In contrast, ‘Neurodiversity’ embraces the recognition and respect of neurological differences as part of the human spectrum, highlighting Reinboth’s inclination toward thoughtful storytelling in his art.

Produced in collaboration with Jan Krause (Beanfield) and mixed by Sasse, the release embodies Reinboth’s meticulous craft and his continued evolution as an artist, more than 30 years into his career. With over 20 remixes, 30+ compilations, and countless landmark moments as the head of Compost Records, Reinboth’s latest work liberates his own creative mystique while pushing his personal artistry forward.

You can now listen to the full premiere of ‘Morbus Mütze (Curable Piano Version)’ exclusively on When We Dip Radio. Enjoy!
