Refraction Records introduces ‘Phantom Relay’, a collaboration between the label’s creator Pedro Capelossi and the veteran Brazilian artist B-Vision. Known for releases on Bedrock and Sudbeat, and for long-standing support from influential figures such as John Digweed and Carl Cox, B-Vision joins Pedro in crafting a deep and magnetic original.
To expand the narrative, the EP features three distinct interpretations from top-tier remixers: a deep rework by Nhar, a techno-driven version by Raytek, and a dub-oriented reconstruction by Martin Jarl.
The original track ‘Phantom Relay’unfolds with a tense yet elegant pulse, merging Pedro’s atmospheric approach with B-Vision’s seasoned groove sensibility. Layers of texture and subtle melodic fragments shape a hypnotic progression that feels both understated and highly immersive.
Nhar delivers the first reinterpretation of the EP, bringing his signature depth and refined detail. French-born and now based in Milan, he is a long-standing figure in the deep music landscape, with a distinguished history of impeccable releases and remixes. His catalogue spans influential imprints such as Seven Villas, where he is one of the core artists, as well as the globally renowned Anjunadeep. For ‘Phantom Relay’, Nhar dives into an emotional and expansive territory, unfolding ethereal harmonics, a warm and rounded low-end, and an organic rhythmic flow. His remix enhances the introspective dimension of the original while maintaining a strong and immersive dance-floor drive.
Raytek takes the second turn, reshaping ‘Phantom Relay’ through his signature approach to deep, hypnotic, dubby, and groovy techno with a twist. Original from New York, he has built a forward-thinking catalogue with releases on respected labels such as Sungate and Hypnotic Room, consistently pushing a sound that is both modern and tightly engineered. His version intensifies the original with driving percussion, sharpened rhythmic tension, and precise synth accents, crafting a peak-time interpretation that channels his unmistakable late-night energy.
Closing the package, Martin Jarl offers a masterfully crafted dub reconstruction. Hailing from Sweden, he is a well-established name in the dub-oriented scene, with releases on influential imprints such as Seven Villas and Spclnch. Often regarded as a true craftsman of deep atmospheres and melodic subtlety, Martin brings his unmistakable sensitivity to the EP. His interpretation opens a spacious and contemplative dimension, built on delicate harmonic shifts, nuanced textures, and a restrained yet immersive rhythmic foundation, delivering a beautifully introspective counterpart to the more energetic versions in the release.
