The Parisian club scene has long been a hot bed for innovation. It’s eclectic patchwork of clubs and spaces have been influential to the journeys of many with artists from across the board expressing their gratitude to a particular venue for helping launch or shape their careers.
For CHLOÉ – DJ, producer, owner and A&R chief of Lumière Noire Records – that venue is Rex. And prior to the release of her ‘Distorted Dance’ EP, she held a special ‘All Night Long’ label showcase at the esteemed Pairs nightspot unleashing the EP in full effect. After releasing the title track as a single back in November, it marked a new chapter in CHLOÉ’s trajectory, an artist who continues to redefine the contours of electronic music. A high-tension trip woven from layers of frenetic arpeggios, rumbling basslines and snare driven ascents. A track that was designed for the dancefloor.
Now, this February, she embarks on the release of the 5-track EP featuring standout remixes from Hannah Holland, Leonor and Miles J Paralysis CHLOÉ’s other original production on this release titled ’Eternity Bound’ begins with a punching low-end fraught with a tense, gloomy mystic. A cacophony of robotic overtones fills the voids left between the clunking rhythms and desolate grooves that permeate the beat’s sweet, shuffling undercurrent.
The first of a trio of remixes, Mexican producer Leonor enjoyed a stellar breakout year in 2024 and his trajectory has been ascending ever since. His dark disco infused techno has secured releases for him on Borders of Light, Lumiere Noire and AEON and support from Camelphat, Keinemusik, Solomon, and Dixon. His remix he takes a driving minimal beat and whisks a fuzzing concoction of rave-ready motifs and progressive techno patterns to cultivate a winding, narrative led track that lends ideas of varying dance codes throughout.
Hannah Holland’s storied history includes releases on Shall Not Fade, Super Rhythm Trax and Crosstown Rebels, film and TV scores, residencies at iconic London parties and marathon sets at Berlin’s Panorama Bar. On her ‘Distorted Dance’ remix the multi-talented Holland dials up the intensity employing a bludgeoning techno beat across a shimmering palette of efflorescent chord structures and diesel-powered basslines.
Exceedingly talented UK newcomer and owner of Crying Outcast imprint, Miles J Paralysis features lastly on Distorted Dance EP with his ‘Wormhole Dub’ remix. For his contribution to this genre hopping 5-tracker the youngster delivers a dub heavy mix of plodding bass chords over a rasping rhythm that rotates around tumbling, fractured house beats and mutating sound designs.
You can now listen to the full premiere of Leonor’s remix exclusively on When We Dip Radio. Enjoy!
