German DJ and producer Butch returns to Rekids with his ‘Official Bump Call’ EP, landing May 22nd 2026. It marks his first solo outing on the Berlin and UK based imprint since 2011’s ‘Raw Beats’ two-tracker, with a 2018 cameo remixing Basement Jaxx’s ‘Good Luck’ in between. This time, Snatch! Records boss Riva Starr steps in on remix duties, fresh off his own ‘Shine A Light’ EP for Radio Slave’s flagship label.
We are thrilled to be sharing the title track ahead of release. ‘Official Bump Call’ rolls in on live, loose, funky drum breaks that ride a swollen bassline. Toms and congas pepper the groove while steamy vocals inject soul into every bar, building a dusty, heartfelt house cut that balances vintage samples with Butch’s signature production polish. The result is a sure-fire summer heater designed for sunset terraces and late-night basements alike. The EP is rounded out by ‘Foxtrot Uniform’, another tasteful blend of soul, funk, and gospel motifs riding a lived-in house groove, plus the aforementioned Riva Starr remix that beefs up the drums while keeping the slow-burning vocal heat front and centre.
Butch is a true heavyweight of the global house and techno scene. From his Mainz roots, he has built a vast discography across Life And Death, Running Back, Defected, Innervisions, Diynamic, Snatch! and many more, traversing everything from intricate minimal with Ricardo Villalobos to Eastern-leaning psychedelia and prime-time techno. Founded in 2006 by Matt Edwards aka Radio Slave, Rekids has grown into one of the most trusted homes for forward-thinking house and techno, expanding with the techno-focused Rekids Special Projects in 2017 and the latest sublabel REK’D in 2024. With Edwards still steering A&R, the label continues to champion both emerging and established names, with recent outings from DJ Minx, Echonomist, and Tal Fussman.
