There is something cinematic about the way Cristina Lazic builds a record, and ‘That’s Right’ is no exception. The Italian born, London based artist returns to her own La Zic imprint after a year away, stepping back onto the throne of the label she founded with a track that feels both confident and playful. Lazic is a classically trained pianist turned dance music force, with a discography that runs through Crosstown Rebels, Moan and Bondage Music, and a reputation for sets that glide between elegant minimal, groovy tech and dreamy, spacey melodies.

‘That’s Right’ is the perfect testament to that sound. It is rolling, bold and fierce, a hi octane skipping groove that fuses with a bubbly bassline and the dubby, spacey synths and pads that have become her signature. Everything builds patiently toward the breakdown before tipping into a proper hands up, heads down drop, the kind of moment built for a dark room and a heavy system.

The release arrives as the ‘That’s Right EP’, with two remixes rounding out the package. Italian duo Supernova, the Lapsus Music founders who have shaped the house scene for over two decades, turn in the ultimate terrace anthem, all disco stabs, congas and a pure injection of groove. French born enchanter YokoO, curator of SATYA, then takes things into after hours territory with a classy, loopy seven minute jam for the more minimal heads, sublime and enigmatic in equal measure.

La Zic, which translates loosely from French slang as ‘the music’, is far more than a label. Launched by Lazic in 2024, it blends record releases with an artist development academy and events, all wrapped in a lunar, surrealist aesthetic that floats somewhere between minimal, deep tech and melodic house. ‘That’s Right’ is a fitting reminder of why the platform has quickly become one of the scene’s most exciting homes for elegant underground sounds.

You can now listen to the full premiere of ‘That’s Right’ exclusively on When We Dip. Enjoy!
