There is a certain kind of electronic music that does not chase the moment but builds it patiently, layer by layer, until the whole room feels transformed. Makebo has spent years perfecting exactly that craft, and his latest offering for Mango Alley is a masterclass in restraint and atmosphere. Today we are thrilled to premiere ‘Storm’, the lead cut from the Barcelona based producer’s brand new EP on one of progressive house’s most respected homes.

‘Storm’ opens the ‘Storm / Balance’ EP (ALLEY359), a two track release that finds Makebo doing what he does best. Rolling at a hypnotic 122 BPM, the track wraps a deep, chunky groove around shimmering synth work and wide, weightless atmospheres. It is music built for the deeper hours, where tension and release trade places slowly and every element earns its space. The result is immersive without ever feeling heavy, a track that pulls you inward while keeping the dancefloor firmly in motion.

Makebo has long been one of the most compelling voices in the organic and progressive house world. Based in Barcelona, he closed 2023 at the very top of Beatport’s organic house artist chart, and his catalogue spans revered imprints such as All Day I Dream, Anjunadeep and Lost Miracle. Alongside Amonita he also founded Rubicunda, a label and showcase platform that has become a gathering point for melodic music lovers around the world. His touch is unmistakable, emotive and textured, and always in service of the groove.

Mango Alley makes a fitting home for this release. The imprint has grown into one of progressive house’s defining labels, named the number one top selling progressive house label of 2024 on Beatport, with a signature sound built on deep grooves, bold synths and captivating atmospheres. ‘Storm / Balance’ sits comfortably within that world while carrying Makebo’s own unmistakable character.

You can now listen to the full premiere of ‘Storm’ exclusively on When We Dip. Enjoy!
