Some records do not need much time to explain themselves, and ‘You Can Move’ is one of them. Rolling drums, a weighty bassline and a commanding vocal hook that keeps repeating its instruction until you give in: ATLAC’s new single for Hottrax is a straight shot of peak time energy, built with no wasted motion and aimed squarely at the middle of the floor.
The track leads a two tracker that marks the young Italian producer’s debut on Jamie Jones’ imprint. Its counterpart ‘Strong’ heads somewhere more hypnotic, locking trippy, warped vocals into a stripped back workout that carries its momentum from the first bar to the last. Together the pair capture the direct, club focused approach that has earned ATLAC so much love across the scene, and according to the artist himself, they came together almost instantly.
“These tracks came together really naturally, going from the first idea to the final versions in just a couple of hours. I sent them straight to Jamie because I felt they captured exactly the energy I was looking for. Releasing on Hottrax is a real milestone for me. I’ve always loved the label and have played its records in my sets for years, so it’s an honour to now be part of the Hottrax family.” – ATLAC
Still only in his twenties, ATLAC has spent the past few years building serious momentum through a stream of club focused releases via Hellbent, Desolat and Metamorfosi, carving out a sound rooted in driving grooves and punchy low end. That work has found favour with the likes of Joseph Capriati, Loco Dice, Cloonee, Dennis Cruz, Wade and Adam Beyer, while his energetic sets have taken him from clubs across Italy to dancefloors much further afield.
Hottrax, meanwhile, keeps doing exactly what it does best. Launched by Jamie Jones as a rawer, more club minded counterpart to Hot Creations, the label has built its reputation on introducing exciting new artists to a much wider audience, and welcoming ATLAC into the family feels like a very natural fit.
