Livart Celebrates 10 Years With Guy Mantzur, Caroline Monnet and an All-Night Anniversary Celebration

Thomas Gaboury-Potvin
Events, Montréal
6 November 2026

Ten years ago, a former Dominican sanctuary on Saint-Denis Street reopened its doors as Livart, a non-profit contemporary arts centre built on the idea that art, heritage and community belong under the same roof. On Friday, November 13, 2026, the Montreal institution celebrates its 10th anniversary by opening its entire building for one night, with contemporary art, architecture, food and electronic music flowing from dinner all the way through to sunrise.

Around 600 guests are expected at 3980 Saint-Denis Street for a celebration that runs from 9 PM to 6 AM. The evening starts with a sold-out anniversary dinner by Menu Extra, followed by the unveiling of a monumental new public artwork by Caroline Monnet, the opening of Livart’s 10-year retrospective and an all-night electronic music program. For the occasion, Livart will operate under a special permit allowing alcohol service until 6 AM.

Ten years of Livart

Livart was initiated in 2013 by Cindy Tessier-Trudeau and Marc O’Brien-Miro, a couple with a shared vision of combining the arts with built heritage. The site has a long history in the Plateau-Mont-Royal: it housed the St. Agnes parish church in the early 1900s before the Dominican friars took over the complex in the 1950s and ran the sanctuary until 2004. After a heritage rehabilitation carried out between 2013 and 2016, Livart opened to the public in October 2016 as an art gallery, artist studios, an art school and a multipurpose venue, with the transformation earning a Grand Prize for Design.

The anniversary exhibition revisits 15 landmark exhibitions, the history of the building before its transformation, its former connection to the Dominican community, the rehabilitation itself and some of the artists and projects that have shaped Livart over its first decade. The retrospective remains on view through December 20, 2026. For the celebration, Baillat Studio is also contributing an immersive installation within the space, extending the exhibition into the overall experience of the building.

A new monumental work by Caroline Monnet

At 9 PM, the evening officially begins with the unveiling of a new 11 x 11 metre mural by Caroline Monnet on the north façade of Livart’s Maison des artistes. The Montreal-based multidisciplinary artist of Anishinaabe and French heritage has shown her work everywhere from the Whitney Biennial to the Toronto International Film Festival, and this new piece becomes part of the architecture of the site, marking a new chapter in Livart’s ongoing relationship between contemporary art, public space and the city.

Guy Mantzur headlines the night

As the night unfolds, Livart shifts into club mode with a lineup that brings together local and international talent. Headlining is Guy Mantzur, who plays an extended three-hour set from 1 AM to 4 AM.

The Tel Aviv-based DJ and producer has built an international reputation for deeply melodic, long-form sets that move through house, progressive and hypnotic soundscapes. Co-founder of Plattenbank Records and the man behind the Moments label and event series, Mantzur has released on Bedrock, All Day I Dream, Lost & Found and Sudbeat, and his collaborations with Khen, including the much-loved ‘Ode To Simplicity’, have become staples of the melodic underground. His remix of Hernan Cattaneo, Hicky & Kalo’s ‘Distant Memories’ alongside Chicola, released on Watergate Records, offers a taste of what to expect from the Montreal set, and you can stream it below.

Laurence Matte, Baya and Marco Miro complete the lineup

Laurence Matte has become one of Montreal’s most distinctive selectors, favouring slow burns over obvious drops and moving freely between house, dub, jungle and percussive psychedelia. She has played Igloofest, Piknic Électronik, the Festival d’été de Québec and the SAT, and her productions sit somewhere between cosmic electro, dark disco and ambient electronics.

Baya is the DJ alias of JS Baillat, founder of Baillat Studio and a longtime visual collaborator of MUTEK whose work has accompanied the likes of Sasha and John Digweed, Cirque du Soleil and Moment Factory. Fittingly, his studio is also the one behind the immersive installation that will transform the building for the night, so expect a set that is as visual as it is musical.

Rounding out the lineup is Marco Miro, Livart’s own co-founder, who brings progressive, hypnotic and deep grooves to the venue he helped build, following his back to back appearance at the centre’s eighth anniversary celebration.

Ten years after opening, the anniversary is conceived not simply as a look back, but as a celebration of what Livart has become: a place where artists, audiences, nightlife, architecture and contemporary culture continuously intersect. Capacity is limited, so secure your tickets below.
