30 October 2014

After over a year toiling away in the studio Drumcomplex & Roel Salemink have released their eagerly awaited LP. Arriving on Carl Cox and Jon Rundell’s respected Intec imprint ‘Crossing Borders’ is a 12 track ensemble of dark, pumping tech house & techno from two rising talents in the game. We caught up with the boys recently to get the lowdown on the release, to chat ADE, studio habits and more. It’s all below, enjoy!

WWD : Thanks for taking the time to answer a few questions guys! Where are you right now and what have you been up to this week?

This week has been really strange, leaving ADE, releasing the album and doing a lot of promo and interviews so far. But it’s great!

WWD : You survived ADE last week, what were the highlights?

We had a lot of good meetings, especially with Jon Rundell from Intec about some forthcoming projects. Plus, played at some great events such as the Dockyard Festival.

WWD : Getting down to business. Give us the lowdown on the new album!

It’s unbelievable, everyone is enjoying it. Good feedbacks, nice reviews and full support from the big players!

WWD : Can you give us an insight into the production process? Is it something that’s been in the pipeline a long time? How quickly did it come together?

Yes, we started the project around a year and a half ago. The idea was to make a musical album which was also good for the dancefloor. It worked out well.

WWD : What’s it like to have the backing of a prestigious label like Intec for the release?

It’s still strange. We support the label and the artists on it very much so having our own album on Intec is the best thing ever in my opinion.

WWD : Having collaborated on numerous occasions you must find it enjoyable in the studio together? What can you tell us about each other’s production strong points? And… what about their bad habits?

Roel about Arnd: First of all we have we have a lot of fun and that is what is important and gives us the energy. Arnd is really strong at making the Olskool sounds! Bad habits…? Too much 😉
