Endangered Records reaches a mini-milestone with its 10th release, and to celebrate will introduce a very special Various Artists EP and the launch of a new series: Worlds Within Thee. Label boss & curator Brian Cid explains the background behind the project:
“At Endangered, it’s our mission to find individuals & musical gems that give light to our deep vision & strong purpose. In commemoration of our 10th release, we’re launching a new Various Artists series called Worlds Within Thee, welcoming a handful of brilliant up & coming music makers doing extraordinary work from all around the world. Worlds Within Thee reflects a wide range of styles touching the spaces of deep, melodic, experimental grooves with dark & uplifting vibes – falling comfortably into our unique Endangered sound.”
Brian Cid begins the project with ‘Lions Gate’, a collaboration with Adisyn, who is a fellow American and Miami-native. It’s a deep and groovy builder, with a hypnotic atmospheric vibe to start off the EP. Hats & Klaps are a duo originally hailing from the Middle East, and provide the second track ‘Hidden Cave’. This track steers the music into a darker place, with tribal-style vocal stabs & percussion. The energy is kicked up a notch on ‘Wide Spaces’, the 3rd track on the release courtesy of Argentinian producers Matias Larrosa & Martin Gardoqui. A driving bassline, hypnotic arpeggiated synths, and tension-building breakdowns give the boost on this one. Spanish producer Odagled follows with ‘Zorch’, and offers a change from the 4 on the floor style of the other tracks. Spatial, and mesmerizing, it works equally well when the sun goes down as it does when it rises. Finishing out Worlds Within Thee is a melodic stomper from Gabriel I and Company is Family, who are from Mexico and The U.K. respectively. A perfect way to end the release on a euphoric high note.
