Berlin-based producer and DJ, The Checkup joins forces with DJ Merci and vocalist Mona Lee for a new single on Kerri Chandler’s Kaoz Theory this April, with UK artist Simon Shaw on remix duties.

Berlin’s The Checkup has become a much prized figure in the contemporary House scene through his own imprint Heattraxx, plus further material on Catz N Dogz Step imprint, here he joins forces once again with DJ Merci following their 2023’s ‘Jazz and Groove’ EP on Riva Starr’s Snatch, this time round though deliver new works for the Kerri Chandler helmed Kaoz Theory while welcoming Mona Lee on vocals who recently contributed to Chandler’s recent ‘Space and Places’ LP with ‘Joyful Life (Full Vocal Mix) [De Marktkantine]’.

The original version of ‘You Make Me Stronger’ leads the release, laying down hazy piano chord sequenced with organic percussion and choppy bass stabs intertwined with Mona Lee’s mesmerizing vocal style results in a classic slice of soul infused House.

The UK’s Simon Shaw then adds a raw twist to the original with a squelchy acid tinged bass line, crisp skippy drums, dubbed out fragments of the original and the cinematic piano line intricately weaved into the gritty peak time groove.
