The 98th release on Darin Epsilon’s Perspectives Digital starts the new year with a powerful offering from German artist Cary Crank alongside a pair of remixes from Rauschhaus and Rafa Silva.
An iconic name within the music industry and a career spent as a rock guitarist and electro-pop producer, Cary Crank’s move into the world of Melodic Techno in 2018 witnessed a rapid rise to prominence. Since his 2019 debut for Trippy Code, over a century of credits has thus seen music signed to Parquet, Beatfreak Recordings, Steyoyoke Black, and his own imprint Sunexplosion. “Roll the Dice” is a powerhouse debut that sees the Frankfurt-based star hit the heights with a searing glissando lead line cutting through a driving rhythmic framework with ease. A heavy kick and rolling groove add vibrancy while a breakdown replete with LFO’d synth and snare roll crescendo pave the way for a second half of floor-filling energy and melodic joy.
Moritz Rausch needs little introduction to those familiar with the Kiel-born artist’s work. His Rauschhaus moniker is synonymous with a trademark sound that has seen the German feature on a swathe of blue-chip imprints for over a decade. It is therefore no surprise to see over 500 production credits to his name for the likes of Stil vor Talent, Einmusika, Parquet, Beatfreak, Steyoyoke, and 3000Grad. A pair of remixes for Perspectives in 2020 and 2021 saw the prolific artist reworking Juan Pablo Torrez and Far Distance to stunning results. Using a compelling blend of rhythmic energy and an innovative interpretation of original components, Rauschhaus creates a stirring remix that combines spine-tingling bassline progression and melodic dynamism. The result is a track that waxes and wanes with club-friendly know-how. New production material and a subtly deeper atmospheric vibe create an impressive variation on themes resonant in Cary’s original.
The final track in the package features the debut of Rafa Silva. A Chilean-German artist with a wide range of talents at his disposal, Silva’s creative and compositional skills in classical music, sound design, and drumming has led to a clutch of releases that have featured on Ritter Butzke Records, ZEHN Records, and Hannes Bieger’s Balance compilation. Now adding Perspectives Digital to his portfolio, Rafa Silva’s remix blends a whip-cracking kick, offbeat hats, and a bouncing bass groove to create a smooth and hypnotic backdrop. Adding a new central melodic sequence with its theme very much based around the one found in the Original Mix, he creates a unique motif that fizzes and shimmers with spine-tingling brio at the breakdown before blossoming in the second half in effortless fashion with a powerful dark energy.
