Roel blends the influence of disco, funk and soul with contemporary house, and has built an increasingly impressive catalogue through releases on Soulfuric Recordings, Groove Culture Music, MoodFunk Records, Spacedisco Records, Phoenix Music and Lowtrax Records. That run has earned him support from artists including Louie Vega, David Penn, Claptone, Hatiras, Bob Sinclar, Fedde Le Grand, Anané and Low Steppa himself, a list that says plenty about how widely his records travel.
With ‘Dreamliner’ he delivers his highest profile collaboration to date, pairing his signature blend of soulful musicality, analogue warmth and club focused production with one of house music’s most respected names. The track sits right in the middle of this session, surrounded by cuts that share its appetite for groove, and it lands as naturally as you would hope.
Elsewhere the selection moves through jackin’ swing, gospel tinged vocals and a couple of his own productions, including ‘Came To That Day’ and ‘More Than Right’ with Antonio AM and Cristian Volpe, plus an unreleased Antonio AM cut for good measure. Nothing here is trying too hard. It simply keeps the energy rising, one record at a time.
